For a long time, Apple users in India had been demanding the company to rollout an update for the 5G services. However, Apple had not been able to answer the queries of users based in India for a long time.
Delayed 5G Update Rollout
This raised many concerns among Apple iPhone users in India who wanted to know whether Apple is planning to launch any update for 5G in the country or not.
There was a high potential that Apple users in India would start moving to other brands and companies to gain access to updated versions of 5G.
Apple Announces 5G Update Rollout in India
Over the months, the pressure has continued increasing on Apple as it feared losing a major market that is constantly growing in the Asian region.
Fearing it may lose the Indian market, Apple has announced that it plans on rolling out the 5G update by the end of the year 2022.
Apple has confirmed that it has scheduled to rollout the update for 5G services for the iPhones in December 2022. Apple made the announcement about the rollout of the new 5G update on Wednesday.
A Meeting was Scheduled
The sources have confirmed that the officials of the Indian Government were also scheduled to meet with the top management of major smartphone brands.
The reason behind the meeting was to talk to the companies so the process of rolling out the 5G updates could be expedited.
As per the reports, Samsung and Apple were the top priorities of the government officials to discuss the matter. Other smartphone companies were also on the agenda, so it is expected that government officials would soon visit Samsung and other brands.
Many insiders claim that the officials may not go to Apple as it has already announced the rolling out of the 5G service update.
It was on October 1 when Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India announced the rolling out of the 5G service. Still, no update was implemented by the smartphone brands in the country.
The officials from the Indian Government were determined to nudge the smartphone companies to expedite the process. Any company that does not comply with the request may face fines or penalties from the concerned regulatory authority in India.
Apple has to Expedite the Process
Compared to the rest of the smartphone companies, Apple has a very high stake in India. It has been growing its market in India and if it fails to deliver, the situation may worsen for the largest tech company in the entire world.
Currently, several iPhone models such as iPhone SE (3rd generation), iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, and iPhone 14 series are 5G capable.
Apple has to make sure it wastes no time and rolls out the update for the 5G version in the given time. Not doing so could end up losing a great deal of business in the country.
